To equip the First Aider with a wide range of skills and knowledge so that he/she can competently look after an injured or ill person until the arrival of a more qualified person including the use of an Automatic External Defibrillator. Upon successful completion of this course, an HSE approved First Aid at Work certificate will be awarded (valid for 3 years) and a defibrillator cert valid for one year

- Understand the duties of the first aider, employers and the legal framework
- Maintain simple factual records on what they have done with regard to any treatment or management of an emergency

- The HSE strongly recommends that first aiders undertake annual refresher training. Recertification training must be completed within three years. The First Aider will have to re-sit the full 3-day (18 hour contact time) course should their certificate expire, recertification training is at least 2 days (12 hours contact time)
- The Resuscitation Council recommend that Defibrillator skills be updated at least once a year, and preferably more often
- FREE First aid up date course every year is offered to all delegates who attend training at Evolve.
