Course Aim

By the end of the course the candidate should be able to:

• Understand the benefits of moving and handling training for client, employer and employee
• Understand types of injuries that can be sustained whilst moving and handling
• Understand how to make a personal risk assessment
• Understand the reasoning behind care plans with regards to people handling.
• Understand the correct use of small handling equipment including handling belts and glide sheets.
• Understand correct people handling techniques for sitting and standing and walking.
• Understand correct people handling techniques for bed mobility.
• Understand correct people handling techniques for lateral transfers.
• Understand correct people handling techniques when using hoists.

NB

It is advised to do refresher training every 3 years.
