Objectives
This course is aimed at Managers/ Supervisors with responsibility for confined space work in their workplace. Covering areas that need to be considered prior to access, during and egress from confined space work.
A “confined space means any place, including any chamber, tank, vat, silo, pit, trench, pipe, sewer, flue, well or other similar space in which, by virtue of its enclosed nature, there arises a reasonable foreseeable specified risk” (Confined Space Regulations 1997).

- Duties under the Regulation
- Permit to work
- Preparation of the work site – isolations, shut downs
- Pre start checks – access egress sizes, gas testing etc
- Emergency planning
- Escape procedures in the event of an emergency
- Safe work procedures
- Types of training, information, supervision required
On conclusion of this course delegates should have an understanding of the requirements and actions necessary prior to undertaking confined space work.
