Objectives

A two-fold course to raise the awareness of all personnel involved in working where asbestos may be present and provides a solution to the control and management of the risk. Incorporates detailed information and guidance about the introduction of a new duty to manage asbestos in relation to the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2006.

• Discussion of the hazards of working with asbestos and asbestos containing materials including the ill-effects
• Information on changes to the law on asbestos which introduce the duty to manage risk from asbestos in commercial premises
• The logical steps required to comply with the new regulations
• Practical exercises to show how a written management plan can be developed
• Discussion on how to implement the plan
• Information on how the new duty will be introduced
• Information on further sources of guidance
• Identification of potential sources of asbestos
