Objectives
This course is intended for personnel at all levels of an organisation. This course will equip delegates with a detailed understanding. They will gain knowledge on the main principles of waste management and develop the skills to improve the management of wastes.
Contents
- Definition of wastes
- How and where wastes are produced in the workplace
- Understanding different types, natures and quantities
- Awareness of waste management practices and disposal routes through explanation of the wastes hierarchy
- Demonstration of how current legislation, in particular the duty of care, helps to promote best practices in the management of wastes
- Conduct waste audits
- Demonstrate the need to improve waste management practices by:
- Explaining the impact of wastes on the environment
- Explaining sustainable / non-sustainable practices in waste management
- Sources of further information and help
