Objectives

This course is intended for personnel at all levels of an organisation. This course will equip delegates with a detailed understanding. They will gain knowledge on the main principles of waste management and develop the skills to improve the management of wastes.

• Definition of wastes
• How and where wastes are produced in the workplace
• Understanding different types, natures and quantities
• Awareness of waste management practices and disposal routes through explanation of the wastes hierarchy
• Demonstration of how current legislation, in particular the duty of care, helps to promote best practices in the management of wastes
• Conduct waste audits
• Demonstrate the need to improve waste management practices by:
• Explaining the impact of wastes on the environment
• Explaining sustainable / non-sustainable practices in waste management
• Sources of further information and help
