Skills Development Scotland – Flexible Training Opportunities
Scottish businesses with 100 employees or less can apply for up to £5,000 towards employee training costs.
Types of training we will fund:
- qualifications, including individual units
- learning based on National Occupational Standards
- industry recognised qualifications
- supervisory and management training
- taster sessions.
Funding is available for up to 10 employees per business and the money is not a loan so there’s no need to pay it back. Skills Development Scotland will refund up to 50% of each episode of employee training up to a maximum of £500 for each employee. For example, if an episode of training costs £1,200 excluding VAT, they will refund £500. If it costs £300 excluding VAT, we will refund £150.

Many of our courses qualify for ILA funding.
ILA Scotland is a Scottish Government scheme which helps people living in Scotland get up to £200 a year towards the cost of learning something new.
The scheme is aimed at people who are 16 or over, living in Scotland and have an income of £22,000 a year or less or who are on benefits.
As of 1 July 2012 additional eligibility criteria will apply. If you are not in education, do not have a degree or above and are not taking part in a National Training Programme (Modern Apprenticeship, Get Ready for Work or Training for Work) you can apply for an ILA.
